      Accessibility Statement

      Compliance status

We firmly believe that the internet should be available and accessible to everyone, and we are committed to providing a website accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstances and abilities.

To achieve this, we strive to adhere as closely as possible to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. Following them helps us ensure that the website is accessible to everyone, including blind people and people with motor, visual, cognitive and many other disabilities.

This website uses various technologies designed to make it as accessible as possible at all times. We use an accessibility interface that allows people with specific disabilities to adapt the website’s user interface (UI) and personalise it to suit their needs.

The website also uses an application based on artificial intelligence that runs in the background and continually optimises accessibility. This application corrects the website’s HTML and adapts its functionality and behaviour for screen readers used by blind people and for keyboard functions used by people with motor disabilities.

If you have encountered a problem or have suggestions for improvement, we would be pleased to hear from you. You can contact the website managers at: info@amtech.it

      Screen readers and keyboard navigation

Our website uses ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes, together with various behavioural changes, to ensure that blind users of screen readers can read, understand and use the website’s features. As soon as a screen reader user accesses the website, they receive a prompt to enable the Screen Reader Profile so that they can navigate and interact with the website effectively. Below are examples of how our website meets some of the main screen reader requirements, with code examples from the console:

      1. Screen reader optimisation: we run a background process that analyses every website component from top to bottom to maintain compliance after updates. During this process, we provide screen readers with meaningful data through ARIA attributes, including accurate form labels, descriptions of interactive icons such as social media, search and basket icons, form field validation guidance, and roles for buttons, menus and modal windows (pop-ups). The process also scans all website images and uses object recognition to provide text descriptions as ALT tags for images without descriptions. Text within images is extracted using OCR (optical character recognition). To enable screen reader adjustments at any time, press Alt+1. Users will also receive an automatic prompt when entering the website to enable Screen Reader Mode.

These features are compatible with all widely used screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.

      2. Keyboard navigation optimisation: the background process modifies the website’s HTML and adds behaviours through JavaScript to make it navigable by keyboard. This includes navigating with Tab and Shift+Tab, opening drop-down menus with the arrow keys, closing them with Esc, activating buttons and links with Enter, navigating radio buttons and checkboxes with the arrow keys, and selecting them with the space bar or Enter. Keyboard users also have access to quick navigation and skip-content menus, available with Alt+1 or as the first website elements during navigation. The process also handles pop-ups by moving keyboard focus to them as soon as they open and preventing focus from leaving the active element.

Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons) and “G” (graphics) to jump directly to the desired elements.

Disability profiles supported by our website

      • Epilepsy Safe Mode: this profile allows people with epilepsy to browse safely by eliminating seizure risks caused by flashing animations or hazardous colour combinations.
      • Visually Impaired Mode: this mode adapts the website for people with visual impairments such as deteriorating vision, tunnel vision, cataracts and glaucoma.
      • Cognitive Disability Mode: provides assistance options for users with cognitive disabilities such as dyslexia, autism or the effects of a stroke (CVA), helping them focus on essential website elements.
      • ADHD Friendly Mode: helps users with ADHD and neurodevelopmental conditions read, navigate and focus more easily on the main elements by reducing distractions.
      • Blindness Mode: configures the website to work with screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver and TalkBack. A screen reader is software installed on a computer or smartphone for blind people, and websites need to be compatible with it.
      • Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor Disabilities): allows people with motor disabilities to use the website with Tab, Shift+Tab and Enter. Shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons) and “G” (graphics) are also available.

Additional UI, design and readability adjustments

      1. Font adjustments – users can increase or decrease text size, change the font, and adjust spacing, alignment, line height and more.
      2. Colour adjustments – users can choose contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted or monochrome. They can also change colour combinations for headings, text and backgrounds, with more than seven options available.
      3. Animations – people with epilepsy can disable all running animations with a single click. Controlled animations include videos, GIFs and flashing CSS transitions.
      4. Content highlighting – important elements such as links and headings can be highlighted, as can active or selected elements only.
      5. Audio muting – users with hearing aids may find automatically playing audio uncomfortable. This feature allows the entire website to be muted instantly.
      6. Cognitive difficulties – we use a search engine connected to Wikipedia and Wiktionary to help people understand the meanings of phrases, abbreviations, jargon and more.
      7. Additional features – users can change the cursor colour and size, enable a printing mode or virtual keyboard, and use many other features.

Compatibility with browsers and assistive technologies

We aim to support as many browsers and assistive technologies as possible, allowing users to choose the tools that best suit their needs with as few limitations as possible. We have therefore worked hard to ensure compatibility with the major systems covering more than 95% of the market: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera, Microsoft Edge, JAWS and NVDA.

      Notes, comments and feedback

Despite our best efforts to allow everyone to personalise the website to suit their needs, some pages or sections may still not be fully accessible, may be undergoing improvements or may temporarily lack suitable technological solutions. We continue to improve accessibility, update features and adopt new technologies to achieve the best possible standard. For assistance, please contact us at info@amtech.it
